Australian Junior Seris 2011

Hey Everyone,

A few days ago was the AJS 2011(Australian Junior Seris) Slope Style event. It was a beautiful blue bird day but it was fairly icy and solid. All the competitors for the days event met at the Village 8 chair early in the morning for bib collection. We then had riders meeting. Baffy (Peter Baff) told us the basics about the comp and than Adam Beggs, Head Judge, told us about what they are looking for in a run. We than all ran to the village eight so we could get a decent amount of training runs. I was in the 2000-1999 age division. For my  first run I just did some nice clean straight airs over the jumps. In my first run I fell on the 1st jump! :/ So for my second run I just wanted to play it safe because If I was to have fallen I wouldn't have been successful. So for My second run I did the same but I landed all my jumps with good grabs on all of them. In result of this I got 1st!

The next day was the Halpipe event. It was another beautiful sunny day, and I was ready to go. My first run was Nose, Method, front 360, back 360. This run I was happy with and I hoped I got a good score! For my next run I did Nose, Method, front 540, Back 540. I was extremely happy with this run and got a result of 1st!

I got overall Gold in the series!

Nationals April 2011 USASA - Part 2

The next day I woke up and got on the Summit Stage Bus to Copper Mountain, the bus was very packed. I walked down the pathway heading towards the mountain, trying to resist the AMAZING smell of the Belgium waffles. I met my coach, Sabrina, at Jacks Cafe and then went to the American Flyer Lift. Sabrina and I rode down to the Woodward at Copper Terrain park where the event was being held. I had to runs of practice, where I was trying to figure out the speed for the jumps. Then it was go time! I did front board slide on the box to stale-fish of the cannon box. I then did straight airs with solid grabs off all the big jumps. I was going great until i fell on the run in of the rail... I mean, you would of thought that I would fall on a jump or rail, but no, the run in :)  So on the next run I did the same. It wasn't a very creative run but it was good enough to get me 3rd Place!! I was very happy with my self. :) The USASA Nationals was a very good experience and I'm excited to hopefully do it again soon!

Nationals April 2011 USASA - Part 1

Hey Guys,

I am finally home in Australia! Sorry I have taken sooooo long to finally write this!!

Anyway, nationals was a huge experience i never want to forget. The opening ceremony was packed full with BMX riders doing tricks and the flag parade! Sadly there was not an Australian flag I could walk behind so I stayed with the American crew. After the parade and the bib collection I went home to bed as it was going to be a big day for the half pipe event the next morning!

The next morning we woke up bright and early to catch the bus to Copper Mountain where I met my coach in 'Jacks'. We rugged up warm because it was absolutely dumping snow, which is not the best conditions for a half pipe comp but we had to deal with the 6" of snow at the bottom of the half pipe. For practice we had to figure out what was the best way to get the most air out of the half pipe. We decided to go straight from the drop in point with the most speed we could. My first run in the comp was unsuccessful as I fell on the most easiest trick in my run, the cab 360. Because of the powder being compacted from the snowboarders riding the pipe it got extra bumpy and I wasn't expecting it! But I fell, so I pumped up all my speed and did a nice front 540 at the end. This allowed me to get a score of 32.5. This was not a very good score, so at the moment i was in 15th place. For my second run again I was unsuccessful, but this time I only just slipped out on my back 540. This run put me into 12th place. After my run I was upset but i got over it after a few minutes as I still had Slope style the next day.

Steamboat!!!

Yesterday morning at 8:00 my Mum and I got picked up by Rj and Sabrina in our driveway and we all went off to steamboat to compete the following day. We drove for 2 hours until we finally arrived at Steamboat mountain. Sabrina, Rj and I headed over to the slopestyle course where we will be competing the next day. The Course had two jump lines to choose from. One of the lines had three jumps in it, A 30 ft jump, a 40ft jump and a 60 ft jump. The second jump line was a 10ft jump, a 20 ft and a 25ft step up. I chose to do the first jump in the big line and the two other jumps in the small line for my first run. In my second run I did the same jump line but I did fount 360 on the first jump. My second run put me into first place! So far this season I have won a slopestyle and a halfpipe. In the next couple of weeks i will be training for the next halpipe in a couple of weeks, and if i win that it mean I will have made it to nationals! Fingers Crossed!
