NZ So Far...

I have been in Wanaka, New Zealand for a week now and it has been so much fun. I have been riding in both Cardrona and Snow Park. Cardrona has a really good pipe, they cut it every night making it almost perfect every time. I have so far been perfecting old tricks and learning new ones as well. The park there is also really nice, the jumps are really good and there is a rail feature for everyone. So far I have developed more skills on rails and on the jumps. There is a triple line then a fourth step up further down. Snow Park is also a great resort but neither the Triple jump line or the pipe was open when I went, but even the rail features could keep you busy for days. There is a rail feature for everyone. We have also jumped off the bridge in down town Wanaka. It was so fun and exciting but it was the most freezing waters I have ever swum in. I have also made a few new friends and love hanging out with some old ones. So far this New Zealand Trip has been really fun and I'm excited to see what the rest of my month holds.

Burton US Open Junior Jam

I just got back from Stratton, VT where the Burton US Open was held. This year in particular was the 30th anniversary. The Open was so much fun and was planned out really nicely. I loved the respect both the resort and the public gave you especially in the lift lines. The best part was the perfection of the half pipe and the way it was built. I competed in the Junior Jam (Under 13) so we had 4 practise days and these were after the open events were finished for the day, even though the pipe was ruined it was still one of the best half pipes I had ever competed in. On the 12th I competed, it was early and the pipe was icy, but the experience was still the best. I came second, 6 points behind Burton rider Chloe Kim (USA). We had 3 runs. My first run was a safety run with just airs and a 540 at the end, I was in second place. I was then sledded up to the top and was asked to drop almost straight away, this time my run was similar but 2 hits after the 540, I did a 720. I had been trying to land this trick for a while and wasn't landing consistently, but we tried anyway and I landed,Ǜ was so happy that even if I came last I wouldn't have cared, I again got sledded to the top for my final run. I looked at the score and I was still in second place. For my final run I was doing 2 airs then a front 540 to a back 540 to a front 720. I was going well and then I fell on my back 540. Even though I fell I was still so happy with runs. The best bit was standing on the podium with USA riders Chloe Kim in first place and Madison Barrett in third. The worst bit was washing all the apple cider out of my hair :) The US Open was one of the best things I have ever done and I’m so excited to compete next year!

New Years!!

Hey Everyone,

Had an awesome night to end the 2011 year! The day was pretty bad with the whole of Breckenridge powerless for a few hours due to the 114mph winds!!! But at 4:00pm we went to Chase's (a Boy from ISTC GROMS) house for a swim and pizza. Then we went to Cameron's (another boy from ISTC GROMS) house for the New Years Eve party. I had lots of fun and I hope that the 2012 year brings lots of fun and good fortune to all of you!!

Australian Junior Seris 2011

Hey Everyone,

A few days ago was the AJS 2011(Australian Junior Seris) Slope Style event. It was a beautiful blue bird day but it was fairly icy and solid. All the competitors for the days event met at the Village 8 chair early in the morning for bib collection. We then had riders meeting. Baffy (Peter Baff) told us the basics about the comp and than Adam Beggs, Head Judge, told us about what they are looking for in a run. We than all ran to the village eight so we could get a decent amount of training runs. I was in the 2000-1999 age division. For my  first run I just did some nice clean straight airs over the jumps. In my first run I fell on the 1st jump! :/ So for my second run I just wanted to play it safe because If I was to have fallen I wouldn't have been successful. So for My second run I did the same but I landed all my jumps with good grabs on all of them. In result of this I got 1st!

The next day was the Halpipe event. It was another beautiful sunny day, and I was ready to go. My first run was Nose, Method, front 360, back 360. This run I was happy with and I hoped I got a good score! For my next run I did Nose, Method, front 540, Back 540. I was extremely happy with this run and got a result of 1st!

I got overall Gold in the series!

Nationals April 2011 USASA - Part 2

The next day I woke up and got on the Summit Stage Bus to Copper Mountain, the bus was very packed. I walked down the pathway heading towards the mountain, trying to resist the AMAZING smell of the Belgium waffles. I met my coach, Sabrina, at Jacks Cafe and then went to the American Flyer Lift. Sabrina and I rode down to the Woodward at Copper Terrain park where the event was being held. I had to runs of practice, where I was trying to figure out the speed for the jumps. Then it was go time! I did front board slide on the box to stale-fish of the cannon box. I then did straight airs with solid grabs off all the big jumps. I was going great until i fell on the run in of the rail... I mean, you would of thought that I would fall on a jump or rail, but no, the run in :)  So on the next run I did the same. It wasn't a very creative run but it was good enough to get me 3rd Place!! I was very happy with my self. :) The USASA Nationals was a very good experience and I'm excited to hopefully do it again soon!
